The spring runs of shad, striped bass, white perch, and herring are all finished up at Fletcher’s and we are now transitioning into our summertime fishery. Catfish will be the easiest target for anglers between now and the end of the year. For those who are more dedicated and willing to have some slow days, smallmouth bass and walleye should be cooperative over the next couple weeks. But, as the river temperature rises above 80 degrees in the coming weeks that will begin to slow down as well. The C&O canal is half-full at the moment but is still home to sunfish, largemouth bass, carp, and snakeheads that can be targeted all summer long.

Fletcher’s will not be selling fishing licenses this season. DC Licenses can be purchased online through DOEE. Due to Covid-19 we are having issues with our distributors for fishing tackle. Expect limited supply in the tackle shop for the duration of the season.
