The great shad bite has continued over the last few day. Warmer water has encouraged good numbers of American shad to start making their way to the cove to prepare to spawn. Hickory shad fishing has been great all week and it’s hard to imagine it getting any better. With the reasonable weather forecasted and just enough rain to keep the river flow up we should be in-store for a prolonged peak of hickory shad. American shad numbers will continue to increase. The consistent water temperatures seems to have increased the overall biomass in the river. Perch, striped bass, and catfish have all become more active in the last week.
